Griddle 101: My Top Chicken Recipes
|
Hello Friends, This week’s video is the next one in my 5 After 5 series: my family’s favorite chicken recipes after five years of owning a Blackstone. Here’s a quick rundown of why each one made the list. 1. Crispy Chicken Thighs This might be the easiest recipe you’ll ever make on your griddle. Start the thighs skin side down on a cold griddle, keep it on low, and let them cook in their own rendered fat. It takes about 30 to 35 minutes, but you get crispy, golden skin and a juicy middle. 2. Blackened Chicken Cutlets These are great to make in bulk for salads, wraps, and sandwiches. Slicing the breasts into thin cutlets is the best way I’ve found to cook chicken breast on a flat top, since everything cooks evenly. It’s a screaming hot griddle, butter, blackening seasoning, and about 2 minutes per side. 3. Chicken Fajitas This is the reason a lot of people buy a griddle in the first place. Marinate the chicken for an hour, then cook it with peppers and onions right in all that seasoning on the griddle. Add a little water at the end to pull all of that flavor back into the veggies. 4. Chicken Gyros This is one of my wife’s favorites, and I make it all the time. The chicken marinates in a Greek dressing, and the two things that really make it are homemade tzatziki and warming the bread on the griddle, then wrapping it in foil so it stays soft. Squeezing the water out of the cucumbers is a pain, but it’s worth it. 5. Chicken Fried Rice This is one of the most popular Blackstone recipes out there, and it’s one of our family’s favorites too. Day-old rice, garlic butter, a splash of soy sauce, and a little sesame oil at the end are what get you that takeout flavor. I walk through all five in the video above, and the full recipes are listed in the description. Keep on griddling, Johnny
