Griddle 101: 3 Steak Upgrades

Hello Friends,

Want to take your steak to the next level? These three toppings will do just that—whether you want something tangy, herby, or rich and buttery.

1️⃣ Quick Pickled Red Onions

These are crazy easy to make and add the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. Just thinly slice a red onion, toss it in a jar with a clove of crushed garlic, and pour over a hot mix of apple cider vinegar, water, honey, and salt. Let it sit for a couple of hours (or overnight for max flavor), and you’ve got a killer topping for steak, tacos, sandwiches, and more.

2️⃣ Chimichurri

This fresh herb sauce is a steak’s best friend. Chop up fresh parsley and cilantro, mix with garlic, red pepper flakes, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, and olive oil, and season to taste. You can spoon it right over a hot steak or mix it with mayo for the ultimate steak sandwich spread. You can also make this using a food processor if you'd like.

3️⃣ Cowboy Butter

If you’ve never had cowboy butter, you’re missing out. This garlicky, smoky, slightly spicy butter melts beautifully over steak—or use it as a dipping sauce. Just mix softened butter with garlic, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, fresh herbs, and smoked paprika. Also amazing on shrimp, potatoes, or veggies.
